Turn your space

into a sanctuary.

Turn your space into a sanctuary.

Life is messy and busy. It’s only natural that our homes bear the brunt of our fast-paced lives.

As a professional organiser, I help Capetonian families breathe a sigh of relief when they walk through their door.

I’m an expert at transforming chaos into order, structure and a sense of calm. Creating happy spaces. Easy spaces. Space for you and your family to breathe.

Declutter

Organise

Optimise

It’s hard to make time to organise your own home.

Garages used as storerooms. Old clothes shoved to the back of closets. Kitchen islands that become dumping grounds.

Disorder can become a burden and it’s hard to share your mess with a stranger. But with 2 grown boys and 5 grandchildren, I assure you I’ve seen it all! I have a knack for bringing efficiency into a home.

How I can help you

Professional home organising

Learn More   >

Playroom filled with broken, ancient toys? Garage masquerading as a storeroom? This is where I thrive.

I’ll work through your priority rooms, disposing (with your permission) any unwanted items to create additional space. Each area will be sorted, its items categorised and placed into easily accessible storage containers. Based on the way you aspire to use and feel in each room, I’ll create a functional structure that’s easily maintainable.

Space enhancement

Learn More   >

Through simple furniture rearrangements, we can open up your available space, enhancing the usability of each room.

I am knowledgeable about indoor plant care, treating unhappy plants and relocating them to optimal light conditions to restore their natural beauty. A few soft touches such as baskets, new upholstery covers and some fresh greenery can transform your home into a light, bright and revitalised space.

Donation of unwanted goods

Learn More   >

I’ve formed excellent partnerships around Cape Town with individuals and charities who resell unwanted goods, creating much-needed revenue for those in need.

We also facilitate recycling of objects and materials that can be repurposed.

Alleviate the guilt of giving away previously loved items by knowing that they will go towards multiple good causes, while clearing up much-needed space at home.

Elderly family member assistance

Learn More   >

It can be incredibly stressful to relocate elderly loved ones, particularly when they need to drastically downsize their home.

I’m passionate about working with these beloved family members, assisting them to sort, pack and unpack their precious items. Creating a new space that is comfortable, dignified and “homey” is a particular strength of mine.

Meet Charmaine

I’ve been an organised person for over 6 decades. I’ve worked as a manager for a label company (I do love a label!) and a successful small business owner. But my favourite role is that of a homemaker. I’ve raised 2 messy boys and spent years trying to undo my perfectionism – now I embrace it!

My ultimate goal for each of my clients is to instil a feeling of pride, calm and empowerment in their home.

Why Space By Charmaine?

Make decision-making easy

Let me reduce the mental load you’re carrying by helping you to decide what deserves keeping, storing and “chucking”.

No disposals without permission

I work quietly on my own, setting aside everything I believe should be packed or discarded. We review these items together before anything is given away.

Empower your domestic staff

I’ll create systems that are easily maintainable by your domestic staff, and train them on how to uphold the structure you’ve invested in.

It just makes sense

I thrive on bringing logic into a space – grouping items and ensuring the things you use most are always easy to find and return to their new home.

Peace of mind, and home

No more cupboards bursting at the seams. No more frustration at not being able to find anything. Enjoy (more) space that instils feelings of calm and comfort.

Quick wins are my forte

I start in rooms where you’ll feel the impact most: kitchens, playrooms and garages are my best! We can even phase things out, doing a room a month.

Rates & Packages

I offer a complimentary 1 hour’s consultation at your home. Travel within 15km of Cape Town’s CBD is free; areas that are located further will incur a small travel charge.

Hourly fee: R325,00

Package rates: R2250 (full day rate).

A proposal will be provided post consultation that indicates the approximate number of hours required per room.

An optional check-in a month after my work is complete is offered to gauge how you’re adjusting to the structures created, and whether any further changes or updates are required. This after-care service is charged at R250/hour.

Feedback from happy clients

“Charmaine helped us sort out various areas of our home. She focused on areas that had become chaotic or disorganised and helped us think through how to better utilise our available space. She respectfully and kindly worked in our home to help us create more order, sensibility, structure and user-friendly spaces. She helped sort the unused stuff from the items we really use. She helped us clean out messy cupboards and arrange our pantry. She set aside things that needed to be vetted by us before being thrown away or packed away. She was not invasive but still was strong enough to tell us if she thought we should get rid of some things we didn’t need. Each day she left the house felt better with lighter energy and a nicer place to live!"

– Miriam Cohen

“Charmaine helped us to organise our kitchen and lounge area by decluttering and making sense of our space. I have a deep desire for order and a sense of calm at home, but it's very easy for that to go awry with a young toddler. It was just such a breath of fresh air for Charmaine to come into the space and give some direction. She immediately shared a few tips about the plants and about the space. It can make you feel quite vulnerable to let someone into your home but I found her to be very warm and friendly. She put me at ease and just has that innate understanding of knowing where things should go."

– Dvorah Stein

“We had just moved into our house and we were presented with a challenge of moving from a big kitchen to a small kitchen, with very little storage space. Charmaine helped us unpack, place all our items in their rightful place and gave us excellent ideas and perspective. I was a bit wary before, unsure how someone else would know where things should go. But as soon as she got working, I really felt her confidence and her energy - I thought, oh wow, this person knows what she's doing! She gave us a tip to remove a shelf that was blocking the view of our fireplace. It opened up the whole kitchen and radically shifted the whole experience of living in this house. She has an amazing eye!”
